I was very pleased to attend the SNBS launch of Somalia’s Poverty Analysis Report at Decale Airport Hotel on August 30, 2023. This experience proved to be eye-opening, leaving me with a profound sense of reflection. The event offered a comprehensive insight into the socio-economic landscape of Somalia, illuminating the challenges faced by a significant portion of the population.
The presentation of poverty statistics served as a stark reminder of the harsh realities many Somalis endure on a daily basis. The revelation that 54.4% of the population lives below the poverty line, earning less than USD $2.06 per person per day, underscored the pressing need for focused efforts and strategic interventions to uplift communities and improve their standard of living.
The Somali National Bureau of Statistics (SNBS) played a vital role in bringing this issue to the forefront. The poverty analysis report served as a call to action for all citizens, urging us to be actively involved in initiatives that promote economic growth, education, and social welfare. It is my hope that the findings presented at the SNBS launch will serve as a catalyst for meaningful change, encouraging both governmental and non-governmental entities to work collaboratively towards a more equitable and prosperous Somalia.
